Cutbank Falls

Cutbank Falls

The Cutbank River is the major tributary to the Smokey River.  Travel South of Grande Prairie along Hwy 40.  From the bridge where Hwy 40 crosses the Wapiti River, travel 55km to where the Cutbank River crosses Hwy 40.  On the south side of the river is the Cutbank Staging Area.  This is a great location for camping, quadding and fishing the Cutbank River.  The trail starts on the west side of the highway, from the back side of the staging area.  Travel 2.7km along the power line where the trail turns west into the trees.  Trail travels 2.1km until Cutbank Falls.  Trail is wet in areas and well traveled.  The wet spring on 2011 resulted in trail damage.  Sections of the trail are steep, rutted, and rough.  For this reason, experienced riders are recommended.
